Capital Improvements Program Committee
Responsibilities
To advise and guide the Board of Selectmen in planning future capital expenditures for the Town of Tuftonboro.
To provide a spreadsheet to the Selectmen, the Budget Committee, the Planning Board and theTown projecting capital expenditures forward for ten years, to be updated annually.
The CIP Committee has defined a Capital Project to be a specified item or activity with a cost of at least $10,000 and with a useful life of two years or more.
Typical Capital Projects include:
- Purchasing vehicles or other equipment
- Purchasing land or buildings
- Constructing, expanding, or renovating a building
- Paving and upgrading roads
- Contracting for services with a work order for a defined task
The CIP provides a formal, legally recognized bridge between the Town’s Master Plan and the annual budgeting activity. The CIP report, with its identified costs and forward-looking timetable, is the action plan to implement the goals of the Master Plan.
