Moderator

Town meeting is a New Hampshire tradition which allows registered voters to discuss town matters, voice their opinions, and to approve or modify town budgets and warrant articles. The Moderator presides over Town Meeting and Elections, regulates the business at the meeting and ensures that all votes are conducted in a manner consistent with state statutes.

On Election Day, the Moderator is the chief election officer in charge of the polls, overseeing all town, state, and federal elections in Tuftonboro.  It is the duty of the Town Moderator to ensure that the election process is fair and is conducted in accordance with State laws.

The citizens of Tuftonboro elect a Town Moderator every two years. Click Here for more information from the New Hampshire Municipal Association on the role of the Town Moderator.
